Good Gift Guide 2019
I know it is still November but we are always early to the Christmas Party at my house. My daughter Sophia has had her own Christmas tree up in her room since October and has been buying gifts all year. The Michael Buble Christmas album has been played repeatedly and we have also been serenaded by Perry Como on the record player. Sophia is a passionate ambassador for all things Christmas and the rest of the family have had no choice but to join in.
This year I have decided to be more intentional and considered in the way that I spend my Christmas dollars, particularly in the area of gift giving. I want to ensure that my purchases are ethically and sustainably produced and bring both empowerment to the producer and delight to the receiver. As I was doing my own research I thought, ‘why not put a list together’ and that’s how ‘The She Is Project Good Gift Guide’ was born. Every organisation included is a not for profit or social enterprise that is involved in bringing positive change to the lives of women in their community. I have included both Australian and North American options and would love to add to the list. Let me know if you have any recommendations or suggestions.
Have fun shopping and please share the ‘Good Gift Guide’ with your friends and family.
We love and appreciate you.

Forever Projects empowers Tanzanian families to care for their children. We give initial life-saving support that will permanently allow them to move themselves out of poverty.
Our goal is empowerment and sustainability. We take 50 families, each with an at-risk baby, through a yearlong project to empower them to care for their own children and to live independently.
Love says come in off the streets, here’s a safe place to live.
Our 2-year residential program that offers women a peaceful place to live and receive support while they focus on living sober, honest and self-sufficient lives. All services are provided without government assistance and are free of charge.
Be Her Freedom
We exist to empower everyday people to make a stand against the injustice of slavery and exploitation. We believe that together we can make a difference and that through the simplest of acts we can create a ripple effect that generates change across the world.
We are committed to using 100% of our profits to fighting slavery locally, nationally and globally.
The Happy Givers
100% of our profits goes to our non-profit. We directly manage and assist a children’s home in Peru, disaster relief in Puerto Rico and an assistance fund for adoptive families in East Africa… plus, relief work when there are natural disasters.
We’re a coalition stretching across Iraq, Syria, the United States, and beyond, working together to unmake violence and create the more beautiful world our hearts know is possible.
It’s Not Ok
Our projects exist to restore, educate, equip, and provide hope to the oppressed, the vulnerable, the impoverished, and the at-risk. We exist that together we may see women healed, loved, and empowered to be self sustaining change makers for themselves, their families, and generations to come.
A Girl and Her World
Girls…. girls become women. They become mothers and grandmothers…they are leaders, teachers, mentors, gathers… bringers of life, love and nurture.
“A girl & her world” believes that no matter where she lives or which family she was born into, a girl was created for this process, built for it in all its beauty, strength, wonder and value. Too many girls around the world live with their wings clipped though they were meant to fly. They don’t go to school, they are married young, they are scarred as child-mothers giving birth. They are hungry and witness violence. They are limited by circumstances…they don’t dare to dream.
We are about a Girl & her world. Her education, her family’s income, her health and wellbeing. We are about seeing her laugh and dream…succeed…have choices. Be who she wants to be…who she was meant to be.
The Eve Project
The EVE project is a not for profit organisation, which exists to offer a new alternative for women who live with trauma as a result of past abuse. By bringing together a combination of therapeutic services, training and mentoring programs and supported work experience we aim to provide pathways for these women to reclaim their lives, where they are thriving and working towards a sustainable future.
Cotton & Wood Gifts
Ethically sourced and locally made every purchase from Cotton + Wood is life changing! A portion of each online sale is donated to Watoto Neighbourhood. This initiative empowers some of the most vulnerable women in Uganda in ways that have a long-term impact, both for their families and communities.
The She Is Project – Supporting Esther’s Voice
Esther’s Voice exists to prevent human trafficking and bring healing to women rescued from human trafficking by breaking cycles of brokenness and empowering women to bring change into their own lives and families through healthy decision-making’
